Modern Drupal 8 Blog Theme

Introduction

Blogiz is a clean, fresh and stylish Drupal 8 Theme for bloggers, its very user friendly Bootstrap theme for Drupal 8 users.

Setup and implementation

Log into your site via FTP . (if you don't have any FTP program you can use FileZilla , it's free).

The steps taken.

  • Unzip the file downloaded.
  • Upload the file blogiz.zip to your domain directory and unzip it.
  • Create a new database with phpMyadmin and import the file "blogiz.sql.gz" to it.
  • Edit the file "sites/default/settings.php", set your database name, username and password.
  • Done! Now, go to your website.
  • Username and Password: admin/admin

Customize appearance

To customize your website, you should visit the theme configuration page: admin/appearance/settings/blogiz

Change Site Logo

This is one of the first things you'll want to do when you have BLOGIZ installed. Here I show you how:

1. Browse to admin/appearance/settings/blogiz
Scroll down to the section named "Override Global Settings" then "Logo image".

2. Browse for your logo file locally. Once you find it, select it, and click “Save Configuration” at the bottom of the page. It will be uploaded to your webserver and will replace the default one.

It's done.

Change theme appearance

If you want change the appearance of your website, you can use the file located in /themes/custom/blogiz/css/custom.css to add your custom css code.

Managing Content

Drupal is a powerful cms, so Managing content must be very easy:

Add a new Category/Tag

BLOGIZ use Category/Tag as taxonomies, to add/edit/delete a Category or Tag:
1. Brows to admin/structure/taxonomy
2. Click on "list terms"
3. add/edit/delete a category or tag.

Add a new Blog Post

1. Brows to node/add/article
2. Fill in the form by the blog Post informations.
3. If you insert multiple images in the images field, you will have a gallery post. 4. If you insert multiple images in the images field, you will have a gallery post.

Add a Youtube/Vimeo/SoundCloud Post

1. First you need to creat the media to add to the Blog Post
2. Brows to media/add
3. Click on "Remote video" for Youtube/Vimeo or "Sound Cloud" for SoundCloud
4. Fill in the form to create your media entity and save
5. Brows to node/add/article
6. Fill in the form by the blog Post informations.
7. In the "MEDIA" field select your media entity: Youtube/Vimeo/SoundCloud.
8. Save

Add a new Slideshow

Slideshow elements are generated by blog posts:
1. Create a new Blog post or edit an existing one.
2. Navigate to "SLIDESHOW" section.
3. Check "Add to slideshow".
4. Add the "Slideshow image".
5. you can set the slideshow order in "Order" field.
6. Save

Edit the contact page

1. Brows to admin/structure/contact
2. Edit the "Website feedback" Contact form.
3. Fill in the form by your contact informatione
4. Set your email contact in "Recipients" field.

Customize Blocks

SlideShow Block

The SlideShow is a view block:
1. To change the number of content in Slide (default:5), brows to admin/structure/views/view/slideshow

Blogger profile Block

"Blogger profile" is a block generated by a custom block, to edit it:
1. Brows to admin/structure/block/block-content
2. Edit the "Blogger profile" custom block.
3. Fill in the form by your informations
3. Save your modification.
 

Most viewed Block

The Most viewed block is a view block:
1. To change the number of content in Most viewed (default:3), brows to admin/structure/views/view/most_viewed

Newsletter Block

The Newsletter block is generated by "Simplenews" contrib module:
1. To edit the block, brows to admin/structure/block/manage/blogiz_simplenewssubscription
2. To edit the Newsletter, brows to admin/config/services/simplenews/manage/default
3. To create a new Newsletter, brows to node/add/simplenews_issue

Tweets Block

The Tweets block is generated by "Twitter Embed" contrib module:
1. To edit the block "Twitter Timeline", brows to admin/structure/block/manage/twittertimeline
2. Set your "Username" in "Username" field
3. You can choose between 4 types: Profile/List/Collection/Likes
3. You can edit the "DISPLAY OPTIONS" too.

Facebook Block

The Facebook block is generated by a custom Block:
1. Brows to admin/structure/block/block-content
2. Edit the "Facebook" custom block.
3. Get the embed code from "Facebook" and paste it in the "Body" field.
3. Save your modification.
 

Gallery Block

The Gallery block is generated by a custom Block:
1. Brows to admin/structure/block/block-content
2. Edit the "Gallery" custom block.
3. Add/remove/order images.
3. Save your modification.
